Why is artificial grass a good idea in Fresno?
Artificial grass, also known as synthetic turf, is a popular landscaping option for many homeowners in Fresno, CA. There are several reasons why artificial grass is a good idea for this area.
First and foremost, artificial grass is low maintenance. Unlike natural grass, which requires regular watering, mowing, and fertilizing, artificial grass requires very little maintenance. This is particularly beneficial for Fresno residents who may not have the time or resources to devote to maintaining a natural lawn.
In addition to being low maintenance, artificial grass is also water-efficient. California is currently experiencing a severe drought, and many cities in the state have implemented strict water restrictions. Artificial grass can help homeowners save water, as it does not require irrigation. This not only helps conserve water, but it can also save homeowners money on their water bills.
Artificial grass is also a great option for Fresno residents who have pets or children. Natural grass can become easily damaged by pets or children playing on it, but artificial grass is durable and can withstand heavy use. It also does not have any toxins or pesticides that may harm pets or children.
Another benefit of artificial grass is that it can be used in a variety of different applications. It can be used to create a lush, green lawn in front of a home, or it can be used to create a sports field, playground, or pet area. Artificial grass can even be used in commercial and industrial settings, such as parks and playgrounds, sports fields, and golf courses.
Finally, artificial grass can be a great option for Fresno residents who are looking to improve the curb appeal of their homes. Artificial grass can be used to create a beautiful, green lawn that will make a home stand out in the neighborhood. It is also customizable, and can be made to look like natural grass, or any other type of grass.
In conclusion, artificial grass is a great option for Fresno residents for many reasons. It is low maintenance, water-efficient, durable, and versatile. It can be used in a variety of different applications, and can be used to improve the curb appeal of a home. If you are looking to improve your landscaping and save water, consider artificial grass as a great option.

Where can you use artificial grass and turf?
Artificial turf can be used in a variety of outdoor spaces, including yards, gardens, patios, decks, and even rooftops. It is commonly used for lawns, playgrounds, sports fields, and golf courses. It can also be used to create low-maintenance landscaping areas or to cover areas where natural grass is difficult to grow. Some homeowners in Fresno, CA also use artificial turf in their front or backyards, or in their dog runs, to reduce water usage and maintenance needs.
How do I install turf in Fresno, CA?
Installing artificial grass in Fresno, CA can be a DIY project, but it does require some physical labor and tools. Here are the general steps for a DIY artificial grass installation:
- Prepare the area: Remove any existing grass or vegetation, and level the ground as much as possible. Make sure the area is free of debris and large rocks. Normally you will be digging down 4-5 inches out and replace with 3 inches of road base, 3/4 inch decomposed granite (DG). Or a crushed miscellaneous base, (CMB), dust rock is preferred when using putting greens.
- Measure the area: Measure the length and width of the area where you will be installing the artificial grass.
- Purchase the materials: Purchase enough artificial grass to cover the area you measured, as well as any necessary tools (e.g. stakes, nails, utility knife, etc.).
- Install a weed barrier: Unroll the weed barrier and cut it to the size of the area where you will be installing the artificial grass.
- Install the artificial grass: Roll out the artificial grass over the weed barrier, and cut it to fit the area.
- Secure the grass: Use stakes or nails to secure the edges of the grass in place. Make sure to stretch the grass tight to avoid wrinkles.
- Add infill: Spread infill (we highly recommend Camofill with antimicrobial properties) over the grass to help keep it in place and give it a more natural look.
- Brush the grass: Use a brush or power broom to help the blades of the grass stand up and look more natural.
It is important to note that some of the steps, materials, and tools may vary depending on the size and shape of your area, the type of artificial grass you choose, and local zoning regulations. Also, it’s important to check the product’s warranty and make sure you are following the manufacturer’s guidelines for installation. It is also suggested to seek professional help when needed.
Top mistakes when installing artificial grass
Not preparing the base properly – The base is the foundation of the artificial grass installation, and if it’s not level and compact, the grass will not look or perform well.
Not using the right infill material – Infill is the material that is placed on top of the artificial grass after it’s installed, and it helps to support the blades and provide cushioning. Always use Camofill or antimicrobial infill.
Not installing a proper drainage system – Artificial grass needs to drain water just like natural grass does, so it’s important to install a drainage system that will allow water to flow through the base and away from the lawn.
Not trimming the edges properly – The edges of the artificial grass should be trimmed to create a clean, finished look. If they’re not trimmed properly, they can look frayed and untidy.
Not using a high-quality artificial grass – Not all artificial grass is created equal, and using a lower quality product can lead to an artificial lawn that looks fake and performs poorly.
Not cleaning and maintaining the artificial grass regularly – Artificial grass needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly to keep it looking its best. Neglecting this step can cause the artificial grass to become dirty and matted over time.

Does your product have any PFAS or Lead?
PFAS are long-lasting chemicals, which break down slowly over time and can have harmful effects on our bodies. PFAS can be found in many places including our water, food, food packaging, and household products and carpet which is indoors!
There are several misleading articles discussing PFAS in turf, claiming PFAS are found in all synthetic turf. This is incorrect. Crumb rubber infill, sometimes used to weigh turf down and help the blades stand upright, contains unhealthy chemicals. Crumb rubber infill is made of recycled tires and contains lead among other chemicals. This is why WE DO NOT SELL or recommend crumb rubber infill for synthetic turf installations.
Instead, we carry other safe coated sand that performs the same functions. Our Camofill infill is antimicrobial and prop 65 approved for California. We also have other natural, non-toxic infill options, so you will never need to use crumb rubber infill.
